Fr. Justin +
The Rev. Justin Briggle, Ph.D., Rector
phone: (903) 729-4214
Fr. Justin Briggle gladly accepted the call as Rector of St. Philip’s after serving two years as Curate of St. Mark’s, Beaumont. He received his theological education from The School of Theology at Sewanee: The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Prior to his call to the Priesthood, he spent eight years of his life as a professor of chemistry at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall. While in Marshall, he and his wife, Dawn, had their two sons, Marcus and Oliver. Fr. Justin has a M.A. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. from the University of North Texas in Denton. Needless to say, he loves learning! He was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.
Fr. Justin enjoys the richness and depth of The Episcopal Church and the traditional Anglican precepts of Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. He is devoted to pastoral care, preaching, teaching, and celebrating the wonderful liturgies of the Church, especially The Holy Eucharist in which Jesus becomes present to us. He enjoys traditional patterns of worship that speak to the otherworldly, seeing the Church’s celebrations as windows into heaven and thin spaces between heaven and earth. If you have any questions of faith, or want to know more about The Episcopal Church, he’s more than happy to talk with you!
Fr. Justin has numerous hobbies (it goes with his love of learning) and lately appreciates sailing, craft beer, fountain pens, and mechanical watches. In his free time, he is often with his family, sometimes at sporting events, scouting events, or playing one of numerous games with his boys. You also might catch him enjoying a pint at Pint & Barrel!
